Courtney has a life-long passion for learning and an empathic soul dedicated to helping others reach goals while maximizing strengths. He is a retired Army Veteran with 26 years of military service. He developed a self-less passion for counseling Soldiers and guiding them through their most difficult hardships related to military life adjustments, family dynamics, personal issues, behavior health, and challenges in life. His professional experience also entails supporting women during their most challenging times with considerable experience collaborating with women navigating perinatal mood disorders, anxiety disorders, pregnancy, reproductive loss, post-partum depression, infertility, and the transition to motherhood. Courtney also has expertise in advocating for survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Courtney uses a collaborative, client-centered approach, so his interventions can be adapted based on her clients’ goals and needs. Some interventions that he uses in therapy include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and self-compassion techniques. These interventions have allowed Courtney to support clients in successfully gaining new perspectives, changing their behaviors, and better understanding themselves and their needs. He is approachable and pays careful attention to the stressors that clients struggle with in their daily lives. Courtney understands that therapy can be intimidating, overwhelming, and uncomfortable so he strives to create a warm, therapeutic, non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe and supported.
