Life can be full of both challenges and joys, but when the challenges feel overwhelming, I’m here to help. I’m Steve, and I believe an empathic and authentic therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth and meaningful change. You are the expert on your lived experience, goals, and values. My job is to meet you where you are with respect, honesty, and humility, and to build a space where you feel supported in doing real, sustainable work.
As a therapist, I’m deeply committed to a strengths-based, anti-racist, and identity-affirming approach. I want you to feel seen, heard, and respected in therapy (especially if you’ve ever felt misunderstood or minimized elsewhere). My style is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I integrate humanistic principles with psychodynamic and narrative perspectives, while also using evidence-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). That means we can explore the deeper “why” behind what you’re feeling and also build practical tools you can use in daily life.
I work with individuals navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, identity development, career stress and burnout, relationship difficulties, and complicated family dynamics. Some clients come in feeling stuck in patterns they can’t quite name. Others are exhausted from carrying too much for too long. Together, we’ll make sense of what’s happening, identify what’s getting in the way of your well-being, and strengthen the parts of you that already know how to heal and grow.
I’m also especially passionate about supporting artists and creatives. When creativity is a major part of your identity or career, life can feel inspiring and rewarding…but also intense, uncertain, and emotionally demanding. Whether you’re a working performer, musician, writer, dancer, comedian, a student breaking into the arts, or a parent supporting a creative kid, it can be hard to find space to process pressure, instability, rejection, perfectionism, or burnout. I specialize in helping creatives navigate these stressors by creating a space where you can reflect, heal, and reconnect with who you are both onstage and off.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my partner and two cats, biking, canoeing, reading, singing, and playing the saxophone.
