Hi, I’m Marta Kotlinska—a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes therapy should feel like a genuine, supportive partnership. I help individuals and families navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship struggles with empathy, evidence-based tools, and a touch of humor when life gets heavy.
With years of experience providing individual, family, and group therapy, I’m passionate about helping people process difficult emotions, rebuild connection, and find hope again. My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, meaning we’ll focus on you—your values, your goals, and your vision of what a better life looks like. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you; it’s about helping you rediscover your inner strength and resilience.
💬 Who I Work With
I work with adults, teens, couples, and families who are ready to make meaningful change. My clients often come to me feeling stuck in patterns of stress, self-doubt, or conflict—and together, we create a space to understand what’s really going on and how to move forward. I specialize in helping people manage:
Anxiety & Panic Disorders – Calming the racing mind and learning tools to stay grounded.
Depression & Mood Disorders – Finding balance, motivation, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Trauma & PTSD – Using trauma-informed approaches like TF-CBT and EMDR to help you heal safely and deeply.
Relationship & Family Conflicts – Building better communication, trust, and understanding within couples and families.
Grief & Loss – Navigating loss with compassion and support for emotional healing.
Stress & Life Transitions – Managing overwhelm and adapting to change in healthy ways.
Substance Use & Relapse Prevention – Helping clients build coping skills and self-awareness for lasting recovery.
Women’s Issues & Self-Esteem – Empowering women to set boundaries, reclaim their voice, and live authentically.
I also have extensive experience working with blended and multicultural families, clients in recovery, and those managing behavioral and anger challenges. My clinical background includes work with court-involved individuals, high-risk populations, and families facing significant life transitions.
🧠 How I Work
My therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate, and customized for each client. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered Therapy—while also drawing from Trauma-Focused CBT and EMDR to support trauma recovery.
Together, we’ll identify your strengths, explore what’s holding you back, and build the tools you need to create lasting change. You can expect a balance of gentle encouragement and practical action steps. I’m here to listen—but also to challenge and guide you toward the growth you want.
Therapy with me might include:
Building emotional regulation and stress management skills.
Developing healthier boundaries and communication patterns.
Exploring trauma and grief at a pace that feels safe.
Reconnecting with your sense of purpose and confidence.
🌿 My Philosophy
I believe healing starts with understanding yourself—and that therapy should be a space where you can do that without fear of judgment. My goal is to help you gain insight, feel empowered, and learn to respond to life’s challenges with strength and clarity.
No matter what brings you to therapy, there is hope. Together, we’ll work toward a life where you feel more grounded, connected, and in control.
When I’m not in session, I enjoy spending time outdoors, staying connected with my community, and finding joy in the simple things—because small moments of peace and laughter are what keep us human.
At Ellie Mental Health in Novi, we believe therapy should be approachable, authentic, and even a little fun at times. Our goal is to make mental health care feel like a conversation, not a diagnosis—where humor and healing can coexist.
If you’re ready to start your journey toward clarity and growth, let’s take that first step together. Schedule today and let’s build a life you can feel good about.
