About Sofia Kovacevic
Sofia is a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has worked in outpatient and private practice settings both in person and telehealth. She graduated from St. John’s University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program in January 2021. She has had several internship opportunities throughout her undergraduate and graduate schooling, helping individuals suffering with a variety of issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, and grief/ bereavement. While Sofia has experience working with ages 3-65, she is most passionate about helping children and adolescents. Sofia had the opportunity to work in co-occurring mental health and substance abuse settings, including running parenting, domestic violence, and anger management groups involving both mandated and voluntary clients.
She has worked in school settings, providing career services, leadership development skills, self-advocacy skills, social skills, behavior management techniques, interpersonal problem-solving skills, help building positive peer relationships, self-esteem, bullying prevention, and emotional awareness (social emotional learning and emotional regulation skills). She has also provided community workshops involving resume building, meditation, and yoga. Sofia utilizes CBT, play therapy, art therapy approaches, but she also believes in the eclectic theoretical orientation in order to meet the unique needs of each individual/family.
