Hi, I’m Lily Byrne —and if you’ve been feeling weighed down by anxiety, past trauma, substance use, or depression, you don’t have to carry it alone. Therapy is about more than talking through the hard stuff—it’s about building clarity, resilience, and real change that lasts.
I work with teens (10+) and adults across Michigan, creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can show up as yourself. Whether you’re struggling with daily stress, facing addiction and relapse cycles, or working through grief and loss, therapy with me is focused on meeting you where you’re at and moving forward at a pace that feels right for you.
My background includes a Master of Social Work and specialized training in substance use disorders, trauma, and motivational interviewing. I’m also CAADC-certified (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor), which allows me to provide informed, supportive care for individuals and families impacted by addiction.
I integrate a variety of evidence-based methods to fit each client’s needs, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to reframe unhelpful thought patterns
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for building mindfulness, balance, and emotional regulation
Motivational Interviewing and harm reduction approaches for substance use and relapse prevention
Narrative Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy to help you rewrite your story and feel understood
Solution-Focused Therapy for creating actionable, short-term steps toward relief
I specialize in working with:
Teens & Young Adults. Navigating anxiety, peer pressure, identity struggles, ADHD, or depression can be overwhelming—I help young people feel heard and supported while developing coping skills they can use outside of sessions.
Adults. Whether it’s trauma, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, or day-to-day stress, I help clients untangle the weight they’re carrying and take practical steps toward growth.
Substance Use & Addiction. From relapse prevention to harm reduction, I provide compassionate care for those facing addiction or recovery, as well as support for loved ones.
Trauma & PTSD. Survivors of abuse, violence, or sexual assault deserve a space that feels safe, validating, and empowering.
Relationships & Identity. I support individuals navigating relationship issues, multicultural or mixed-race partnerships, women’s issues, and LGBTQ+ identities with culturally responsive and affirming care.
What you can expect when working with me:
A safe, judgment-free space. Therapy isn’t about perfection—it’s about being real.
Collaboration. We’ll work together to create goals that matter to you.
Practical tools. Every session is designed to give you strategies you can take into daily life.
Warmth & Compassion. Therapy is hard work, but it should also feel supportive and human.
I know starting therapy can feel scary—but it doesn’t have to stay that way. I believe in making the process approachable, conversational, and focused on progress that feels meaningful.
At Ellie Mental Health in Novi and West Bloomfield, our mission is to make mental health care accessible, affirming, and even a little more human. If you’re looking for a therapist who brings warmth, expertise, and authenticity into every session, I’d love to meet you.
