About Julian Travis
Julian A Travis is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, who has a M.S. Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certification in Marriage and Family Counseling from Wright State University. Before working as a counselor, Julian worked for over 12 years as mental health case manager for the severely mentally ill. While his counseling approach would be considered as “eclectic,” (meaning working from all therapeutic models) he will generally work from the existential approach (a type of Person-Centered Therapy). In this approach, he believes that the client is responsible for their own choices and actions, as well as the outcomes of their treatment. He has been certified as a National Mental Health First Aid Instructor, and is current a member of both the Ohio Counseling Association (OCA), and the Miami Valley Counseling Association (MVCA). He considers himself as being a champion for BIPOC, as well as being an ally to the LGBTQIA people and community. He also respects the theological, spiritual, and religious perspectives and traditions of those who seek counseling.
His areas of focus include; Personal and Social Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling, Couples Counseling, Sexual Health and Issues Counseling, Gender identity and issues, Multicultural Counseling, Developmentally Disabled, Dually-Diagnosed Treatment (Developmentally Disabled and Mental Illness), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Biopsychosocial Therapy Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Strategies, and the diagnosis and treatment of emotional and mental health disorders.
