Dr. Heath Lowman has been a professional listener for most of his life—beginning with his study of philosophy at Winthrop University and continuing through his service in the U.S. Marine Corps as a suicide prevention non-commissioned officer and cryptologic Arabic linguist. These experiences shaped a deep respect for the complexity of human suffering, resilience, and connection.
Dr. Heath earned his Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California and his Doctor of Social Work from Tulane University. His work is grounded in interpersonal neurobiology, allowing him to help clients better understand how relationships, the brain, and lived experience intersect to shape emotional and mental health.
Dr. Heath serves as a steady, compassionate companion for individuals from late childhood through their golden years. He works with clients navigating LGBTQ+ identity, acceptance, and inclusion; marital, relational, or professional conflict; and complex mental health concerns including schizophrenia spectrum disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, suicidality, and the impacts of emotional or violent trauma. His approach is thoughtful, affirming, and deeply respectful of each person’s story.
