About Gerardo Michel

Gerardo is currently a third-year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Miami University in Ohio. He brings his experience working with people in crisis and mental health clinics to Ellie. Gerardo adapts and combines multiple approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral activation (BA), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to ensure that treatment remains relevant for each unique client rather than using a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Gerardo identifies as Mexican-American and thrives at working with diverse cultural identities and concerns. In his academic research, Gerardo is studying how emotion processes in youth may relate to their emotion regulation skills and depressive symptoms. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, watching videos about unsolved mysteries, and spending time with his fur baby (that is, his cat)!
