Rakhshanda is a resident in counseling who earned her master’s degree in counseling and art therapy from Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences (formerly known as Eastern Virginia Medical School).
Prior to joining Ellie Mental Health, she gained experience providing services in residential treatment, inpatient psychiatric settings, and the school system. She has worked in trauma-focused environments with individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults, supporting those experiencing addiction, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and co-occurring concerns.
Rakhshanda is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their experiences. She takes a holistic, trauma-informed approach and believes in meeting clients where they are while honoring them as the experts of their own lives.
She utilizes person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical behavior therapy approaches while also incorporating art-based interventions informed by her training in art therapy. Art therapy can be especially helpful for clients who have difficulty verbalizing emotions, allowing for deeper processing, self-expression, and healing. She believes creativity can be a powerful tool for growth and encourages clients to explore authenticity and self-expression throughout their therapeutic journey. Rakhshanda works with children, teens, and adults.
