Previously held a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) license in Washington, DC (now expired) Mildred has served as a therapist in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and
Virginia. She began her career with a focus on children’s services, including play therapy in Virginia, and later managed the Child Protection Unit at Children’s Hospital. Recognized as a court evaluation expert in child and sexual abuse cases, Mildred provided expert testimony when necessary. She has also worked with couples in marital therapy and individual therapy to adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral health challenges. Mildred believes in “meeting clients where they are” to support their behavioral health needs.
She earned her master’s degree in social work from Howard University School of Social Work, specializing in psychotherapy techniques and demonstrating a commitment to Community Mental Health Centers (CMHC) and Federally Qualified Health Centers
(FQHC). Mildred’s experience includes collaboration with hospital and community providers, serving as Chief of Mental Health and Substance Abuse for Montgomery County, Chief of Mental Health for Arlington, Virginia, and Deputy Director of Behavioral Health in
the District of Columbia. She values providing therapy that is safe, ethical, and compassionate, encouraging clients to engage in self-exploration. Her clinical approach centers on finding elective solutions for individuals seeking care, tailoring treatment to
each person’s needs. Mildred possesses expertise in Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Therapy, and she is committed to the ongoing enhancement of her skills to further elevate the quality of her practice.
Outside of work, Mildred enjoys swimming weekly, playing tennis, spending time outdoors or near large bodies of water, attending plays, and listening to all kinds of music. Recently, she welcomed a four-month-old puppy named “Moses,” who adds joy and activity to her life.
