Zaira (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate. She obtained her MA in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Colorado in Denver and received her BS in psychology with a clinical/counseling concentration from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Zaira’s counseling style is compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive to support individuals in obtaining their mental health goals. She is theoretically grounded in humanistic, existential, and intersectional feminist frameworks and uses techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Psychodynamic/Jungian Theory. As an individual who identifies with marginalized identities, Zaira believes in holistic and trauma-informed approaches to well-being that recognize systemic factors and honor each person’s unique story with an anti-racist, sex and body positive, queer and trans affirming stance. Zaira enthusiastically encourages her clients with non-judgmental curiosity and warmth.
