Yesenia is a compassionate therapist who approaches her clients with unconditional acceptance. Yesenia ensures to create a safe space where the client can enter and explore themselves in a non judgemental environment. Yesenia believes building a relationship of trust is vital in therapy and will continually work on building connection with her clients throughout their therapeutic journey. Yesenia approaches counseling with a relational lens because it is her belief relationships are where we, as people, grow. Oftentimes, the perspective we have of others reflect relational attachments rooted in our own upbringing underlying trauma can impact our ability to enjoy the meaningful aspects of life such as healthy relationships, rewarding work, self-care, and leisure. Yesenia challenges her clients by gently encouraging clients to open themselves up to the parts and feelings that are asking for their own compassion. Yesenia has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults experiencing life transitions, and adults. Yesenia has worked with different populations such as Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar and Related Disorders, Generalized Anxiety disorder, Self-esteem issues, Substance Use Disorders, Domestic Violence Survivors, Childhood Abuse and Sexual Abuse, Grief and loss, Impulse-Control issues, and Anger Management.
Yesenia uses different approaches such as person-centered theory, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindful Self-Compassion Practices. Outside of the office, Yesenia enjoys spending time with her partner, catching up with friends, practicing self-care, being in nature; whether going on a hike or soaking in the sun at the beach, and watching movies as Yesenia is a movie buff.
