Miriam is a Bilingual Licensed Graduate Social Worker specializing in child therapy, particularly working with elementary-aged students. Her experience as a first-generation Mexican American provides a deep understanding of cultural identity, family connections, and human resilience. Prior to her work with Ellie, Miriam’s previous experience includes working in public schools and in the criminal justice field specializing in helping BIPOC individuals with an emphasis on Latino communities.
Miriam is passionate about decolonizing mental health therapy practices and helping heal generational wounds. She uses art and creativity in her therapeutic approach to create a safe, inclusive, and culturally affirming space where children and families feel understood, valued, and empowered to express themselves.
When she’s not in the office, you’ll usually find Miriam spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She loves traveling, attending music festivals, dancing, and trying new restaurants!
