Michele “Mickie” believes that anyone can benefit from personal development by selecting from all that therapy has to offer. Mickie specializes in dealing with depression and anxiety, not as obstacles to satisfaction, but rather as an opportunity to find creative avenues toward a very rich, rewarding life. Mickie has a passion for working with couples and families, especially those dealing with life transitions and is motivated to ensure that her clients feel safe to engage in collaborative conversations, creating a shared therapeutic relationship toward an agreed upon goal. Mickie incorporates healthy living strategies to include behavioral techniques, as well as how nutrition, movement, and sleep impact mental health. Mickie also encourages the use of mindfulness to build strength and consistency to promote positive approaches to life.
Mickie served 20 years in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. She enjoys working with other veterans looking for an understanding companion to process military service. Upon retirement, Mickie attended and graduated from Winthrop University. While working for approximately 18 years with children and families in crisis, Mickie earned her Masters degree from Montreat College, which influenced the incorporation of Christian therapy into her practice if desired. Currently, Mickie lives with her husband and two dogs, but often enjoys family activities with her three daughters and four grandchildren.
