Michael Wood, LCPC

Clinic Director

Ellie Mental Health Owings Mills has named Michael Wood, LCPC as Clinic Director. In this role, Michael will be responsible for clinical oversight, patient care, and community outreach. Michael has dedicated his career to increasing mental health awareness, challenging the stigma, providing compassionate care, and educating professionals. He most recently comes from a group practice where he saw individuals, adolescent and adult clients, conducted couples counseling, and held family therapy sessions to support his individual clients. He has significant training, experience, and specialization in DBT and has most recently been an individual DBT therapist and DBT skills coach. Michael specializes in working with individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Post-Partum Depression, and ADHD. Prior to that, he served as a Clinic Supervisor at Nexus Woodbourne Family Healing Diagnostic, Evaluation, and Treatment Program where he served adolescent victims of sexual trafficking. In his role, he provided leadership and clinical training and implemented DBT based clinical structure within individual, group, and family therapy. Michael has had a variety of professional experiences at Sheppard Pratt, Johns Hopkins University, and Chase Brexton Health Care where he worked with underserved adolescent and adult clients. He is currently gaining training and experience within an Internal Family Systems model of treatment. Michael received his Master of Science in Applied Psychology from the University of Baltimore and is a Board Approved Supervisor for LGPC professionals. Michael is passionate about supporting upcoming professionals to ensure they are best equipped to serve their clients and meet their professional goals. Michael is a lifelong Maryland resident and calls Baltimore his home. In addition to his professional achievements, he enjoys gardening, watching movies, reading books, and bike riding. Michael spends his free time with his wife, daughter, and 2 dogs.
