Michael Thomson, LAC

Michael Thomson earned his Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York after having attended the New Hampton School college preparatory in New Hampton, New Hampshire. He achieved his Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling at Ottawa University in Phoenix, Arizona where he completed a one year internship providing substance abuse treatment as part of his masters program. Prior to joining Ellie Mental Health, Michael worked for the past three years for a dual diagnosis substance abuse team. Before this, Michael briefly worked in a private practice firm, a few SMI clinics as a case manager and a substance abuse specialist on an ACT team (assertive community treatment), as well as a couple of Level 1 psychiatric hospitals providing social services and counseling to various populations of patients since 2013. He enjoys working with patients to help them meet their goals and achieve a reduction in various symptoms such as depression and anxiety, to name a few. Though providing services to clients in Arizona as always, Michael recently relocated back to Buffalo New York where he will be seeing clients virtually, as he did while in Arizona.
