Marissa is a soft and compassionate therapist who hopes to connect with her clients using humor, non-judgement and optimism. Marissa is a bi-racial therapist who most enjoys providing a space for other biracial or multiracial teens or adults to talk through their journeys with validation and exploration.
Marissa incorporates various therapeutic concepts. Clients often find themselves connecting with their body, slowing down and speaking to inner parts that want to be heard. She utilizes trauma-informed practices, as well as grounding and containment techniques tailored to each person to ensure its a safe space to return to. In continued attempts to center holisticness in her work, she also brings in environmental and systems’ influence to assist clients in making their own meanings of the world.
When Marissa is not at Ellie, she works in Social Work Higher Education and enjoys being in nature with her loved ones, over decorating her home or piecing together clothing at the thrift store for her next comfy fit.
