Marcus is currently a licensed LCMHCA. In 2021, he received a BA in Psychology from East Carolina University, with a triple minor in Composite Natural Science, Sociology, and Gender Studies. He went on to earn an MS in Mental Health Counseling – Clinical from North Carolina A&T State University in 2024. During his internship experience, Marcus was part of an ACTT team, primarily serving lower SES populations with mood disorders.
His journey into the mental health field was inspired by learning about the disparities in mental health struggles and outcomes faced by people of African descent and members of the LGBTQ+ community. As someone who identifies with both groups and has faced his own mental health challenges, Marcus has done the work to overcome them and felt compelled to create a safe space for individuals within these communities.
