Makayla finds that one of the greatest privileges of her work is getting to witness each client’s unique story. She prides herself on being able to create a safe environment where clients feel empowered to find the courage to be vulnerable. Makayla loves to integrate play, humor, and somatic based practices into her work.
Makayla is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Trauma-Informed Clinical Social Work at Winona State University and will graduate in May of 2023. She has a special interest in working with children and adolescents who have experienced developmental trauma. Makayla comes to Ellie with experience working in the child welfare field, school social work, and with families and children who have experienced chronic homelessness.
In her free time, Makayla loves to spend time with her friends and family and can usually be found doing anything outdoors including traveling, hiking, or going on adventures with her dog, Theo. Makayla is also a lifetime learner. When she is not in school, she loves to watch documentaries, listen to podcasts, or curl up with a good book at a local coffee shop.
