Kayla’s basis to counseling is to be a present, nonjudgmental, and empathetic being for clients to have alongside their mental health journey. Kayla has worked with individuals of all ages mainly dealing with developmental disorders and mood disorders. One of the most common underlying themes she found with every client is the need to feel safe, heard, and acknowledged. At our core we want a sense of belonging, and feeling heard is the first step in gaining it. Kayla wants will be present for every client to allow them to safely take that first step on their journey.
Kayla utilizes Client-centered Cognitive behavioral therapy so clients may set the pace per their level of comfortability while also encouraging thought reframing. She also incorporates modalities from mindfulness, ACT, solution focused-CBT, and motivational interviewing. Kayla has a passion for empowering these issues particularly with youth and young adults, those with developmental disorders, and those in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Kayla is here for the “weird”, or unconventional components of self-expression and unveiling the power behind it, sometimes with creative outlets. She also ensures a developmentally appropriate environment for each client.
