Julie Bates, MA, LPCC

Therapist

Julie is a licensed professional clinical counselor with degrees from the University of Minnesota and Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Julie has been a mental health professional for upwards of 20 years and has a simple definition of therapy: it is having a conversation with purpose.

As a mental health provider Julie has worked in a variety of creative and challenging settings including an outpatient client, adult residential facilities, an adult crisis residence, community case management, as a vocational specialist, and a recreational specialist. More recently she broadened her knowledge by training in substance treatment facilities for men and for women, honing her skills in treating addictions and mental health.

In addition to her years in the mental health field, her lived experience includes volunteering with hospice and food shelves, working in corporate America, higher education, an Archdiocese, and funeral services to name a few sources of wisdom that inform her work and she brings to the table.

Interests are many including gardening, sewing, art festivals, travel, and on occasion outdoor winter camping.
