Jennifer O’Brien, Licensed Associate Professional Counselor

Therapist

I grew up in the North Hills of Pittsburgh and still reside there with my husband, daughter, and three dogs, Fiona, Molly, and Bruno. We also have 2 cats, Boris and Maxwell. I specialize in treating a number of mental health difficulties including, but not limited to, OCD, grief/loss, substance use/recovery, postpartum depression, and psychotic spectrum disorders. I am an Ally to the LGBTQIA+ population, and believe in the self.

In sessions, I follow a client-centered approach meaning you are the expert, you are in charge, because you are the expert in your own lived experience. I utilize modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Solution Focused Therapy, Canine Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. For those who are wondering, Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach essentially treats the mind as a family with different members that need to be harmonized as the mind contains different parts, with different needs in all of us. I also utilize trauma-informed care to help clients work through various types of trauma.
