Early mental health interventions empower children and adolescents to build healthy adult lives. Janiece works collaboratively and compassionately with families to help children develop close emotional relationships, improve their sense of safety and control, regulate their behaviors and emotions, and develop a positive sense of self. EMDR, IFS informed EMDR, CBT, polyvagal exercises, guided meditations with suggestions, MATCH-ADTC, and play therapy are a few of the evidence-based interventions she uses. Some of her clients present with traumatic stress disorders, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorders, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders, Tourette’s Syndrome, anxiety, depression, social skill deficits, and special education needs. Others seek her out for a safe place to talk with someone. When she is not working, Janiece volunteers with a variety of organizations focused on improving the lives of everyday people. As a therapist and educator, I have over 15 years of experience advocating for children and adolescents in school-based settings. In addition to psychotherapy, I can assist families with special education evaluation, eligibility, and placement issues, help resolve disputes, develop appropriate IEP goals, provide advice on obtaining appropriate services, and address school discipline issues pertaining to children with disabilities.
