Desiree has her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in social work and is a Licensed Social Worker. Desiree is passionate about advocating for social justice, human rights, mental health awareness in the African American community, and IDD/DD awareness in mental health.
She believes in meeting the client where they are. Each person has their own unique journey in life, which may result in unanswered questions, conflicts, and transformations as they seek to understand themselves. She believes “You are the author of your own life story. You have the leading role and get to determine how you interact with your supporting cast and other characters. Without realizing it, you may have allowed the events in your life to write your story for you rather than taking deliberate action to write it in your own voice. What will it take to love your life story to create the happy endings you desire?” (Susan C. Young).
As a therapist, Desiree hopes to assist her clients in becoming the best versions of themselves. She blends evidence-based practices into her person-centered strengths-based approach, allowing clients to feel empowered to make positive changes in their life.
