I am a therapist who enjoys working with folks with a wide range of issues and backgrounds. I have a diverse experience in the field of mental health extending from traditional outpatient settings to severe mental health crisis management requiring immediate intervention. This has given me a strong base in handling a great spectrum of mental health struggles and diagnoses. I have worked extensively with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, phase of life issues, bipolar disorder, self-harm and suicidality.
My objective as a therapist is to understand the unique wonderful person you are and tailor care to your specific needs and goals. The core of my therapeutic style is humanistic, focusing on how the therapeutic alliance between authentic people can help to introduce change and growth. I use techniques from CBT, DBT, and mindfulness to help develop techniques to manage issues in the now and use Gestalt Therapy to help clients investigate what may lay behind the current issues they are experiencing. A therapy session with me will look different for everyone and might open with a meditation or discussing journal prompts or even just giving you space to vent about a particularly bad week.
I place a strong importance on cultural competency and diversity, trying to have a grounded understanding of the unique challenges that face women, BIPOC individuals, queer folx, people with disabilities, and religious minorities. I have specialized training and experience in queer and trans affirming therapy and take great joy in helping people learn to love and accept themselves. I also have training around a popular new specialty known as Geek Therapy (special interest based) and have run Dungeons and Dragons games as a Therapeutic Game Master.
Outside the therapy space I love spending time with my partner and cat, watching movies and anime, reading, hiking, playing video games, exercising, doing yoga, and playing D&D with my friends.
