Aura is a licensed professional counselor associate supervised by Allison Hunter LPC-S. She works with a variety of ages and mental health concerns. Aura sees individuals, couples and families and specializes in relational difficulties, shame-based identity, mood challenges, challenging emotions, bipolar tendencies, parenting, and attention deficit disorders (ADHD). Aura has worked with survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence and those affected by the pain of grief.

She received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and is able to address PTSD and traumatic injuries that impact day-to-day life. She is also trained in addiction EMDR protocols to help individuals and families deal with a variety of behavioral addictions. Through EMDR therapy Aura is also able to help prevent traumatic incidents from developing into PTSD. She is passionate to help others find peace and balance. She has a specially soft heart for those who have been affected by abandonment and neglect.

Aura was born in a small and colorful Caribbean town in South America. She moved to the United States and finished her graduate studies in Texas where she received her associate state licensure. She enjoys seafood, a good movie and a tub of popcorn, fishing, attending international festivals and coffee-tasting events. Aura, her husband, children and orange cat Clementine reside in Texas.

Aura’s main therapy approaches are: Christian faith-based counseling, EMDR, addiction EMDR, object-relations, dialectical strategies, Gottman method and Gottman method for PTSD, batterers interventions, bilingual counseling (English-Spanish), narrative therapy, SAMHSA approved anger management approach, IFS (Internal family systems) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy.
