April is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) in North Dakota, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Minnesota, and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). She received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology and a Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). She’s working toward a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counselor Education and Supervision at North Dakota State University (NDSU).
April is passionate about working with a wide variety of clients. She emphasizes a relational approach and believes building a strong relationship with clients is extremely important and plays a major role in positive client outcomes. She provides a person-centered, strengths-based approach, but strives to tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs. April’s goal is to provide a space where all clients feel safe to share. As a therapist, she utilizes techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and Relational Cultural Theory.
Outside of work, April enjoys traveling, playing with her pet cat, and spending time with family and friends.
