Abby is a creative and empathetic licensed professional counselor who values visual expression within therapeutic sessions. She believes that therapy doesn’t have to stay within the realm of verbal communication, instead it can go beyond the words we speak. Abby has experience with using art therapy techniques within sessions including the use of painting, sculpting, and other mediums of physical expression. She also has experience working with individuals with various cultural backgrounds, anxiety, depression, and identity confusion.
As a queer-identifying therapist, Abby is very passionate about helping others explore gender, sexuality, and how that plays a role into our concept of identity. In addition to LGBTQ+ topics she creates a very sex positive environment opening the door to topics of how intimacy can change the relationship we have with ourselves and others.
Additionally, as someone who has personal experiences with physical disabilities, Abby works with clients who are currently navigating new or old medical diagnoses, working on ways for self-advocacy within the medical system, and how to cope with these changes.
Abby believes in practices such as CBT and person-centered therapy to help guide a client to reach their goals in therapy. Clients can expect an open, accepting, and collaborative approach in a session with her.
